Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church

Our mission is to invite all people to know Jesus, grow through the power of the Holy Spirit,
and go forward to serve all God's children.

PADS - Lake County

Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and Joy! Lutheran Church are honored to be a host site for PADS which stands for (Providing Advocacy, Dignity and Shelter). We host homeless guests every Monday night, October through April. What that means is volunteers prepare and serve a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, a morning breakfast and a bag lunch for every person who stays at our facility.

Our church has been selected as a family site which means that women and children, often very young, and adult males who are fathers of these children are allowed to stay in our church each week. All of these people have been reviewed and approved by PADS of Lake County and are admitted into our church for as long as needed.

To ensure security not only for our volunteers but for everyone at the facility, all PADS guests are required to undergo background checks by the police department. We are strongly committed to safety for everyone.

We are proud of our service to PADS and to these people in need. It is among our finest ministries.

And we can always use more help.

We are looking for individuals and groups to volunteer at our site.

If you have not volunteered at our location before, please fill out the on-line registration form by clicking the link below. Once that has been done you can click the Volunteer Spot Scheduler to schedule yourself or your group for volunteer shifts.
