A-Men

Befrienders

Learn to how to support others in difficult situations.  Learn how to be present and supportive for others.  Learn to be a Christian friend.  Learn how to sharpen your listening skills.  Support our mission statement and ‘share the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.’  Nurture Others!  Serve Others!  Befrienders meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm. Bible study and discussion group on the Gospel of Matthew

A bible study and discussion group on the Gospel of Matthew will be held on Sunday mornings at 9:30 at SOTL. All are welcome to join this study regardless of previous bible study experience. Building Christian Relationships

Share our struggles living as a Christian in today's world and learn interpersonal skills to make us more effective in communicating and relating to others. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings at 9:00am - 10:30am in the library at SOTL.  You are welcome to participate regularly or come only for a period of time to work on a specific issue. Circle of Friends

Fruits of the Spirit Dance Group

There is a new ministry taking shape at SOTL. It's the DANCE MINISTRY. If you would like to join the team in developing dance to the glory of God, please contact Melissa Artemen at 847-356-3287 or Su Miller at 847-543-1334 for more information.

 

Family Homebuilders for Couples

Meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening from 7-9pm at the home of Gary and Virginia Edwards. This group was formed to strengthen marriages and develop supportive relationships with other couples. The group will lead you in discovering God's plan that will enhance and grow not only our marriage, but will strengthen your bonds within the community of faith. Families of Faith

Families of Faith (or FoF) is a group of SOTL families who gather together socially typically on the 2nd Saturday of each month.  The purpose is to provide a non-threatening way for Christian families to meet each other, have fun together, form friendships, support each other, and become more connected with the church.  For more information, contact Amy Bothmann at 847-548-8036 or abothmann@comcast.net.

 

First Things First

Fellowship and bible study using the Serendipity Study Bible. Meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month from 5:30am - 7:00am at the church. For more information, contact Dave Schaefer at 847-223-3314 or Gary Edwards at 847-548-7291.

 

Horizon Youth Group for 5th and 6th Grade

This youth group is for 5th and 6th graders and typically meets once a month. They mix fun eventsbwith service events. Check the space on the bulletin board in the main hallway for upcoming events. April 1             Overnight Camp In - This is a fun and serve event. We are making stepping stones for our Boy Scout friends and they will entertain us around the campfire! If you have not signed up, please do.

April 24           Time to go to Kristoff's for bowling, pizza and arcade games.

May 7              Help with the Plant Sale in the morning, lunch and plant out garden after lunch.

June                 End of year bash! Say good-bye to old friends moving on to PEAK and new friends that will be joining Horizon in the Fall.

 

Joyful Disciples

Bible study, Christian support and occasionally study other Christian books. Meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 7:30pm - 9:30pm in the prayer room at SOTL.  For more information, contact Jackie Schilling at 847-245-7156.

 

Ladies’ Weekly Bible Study

PEAK Youth Group

The PEAK 7th & 8th Grade ministry typically meets every Wednesday night from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at SOTL.  Students are invited to grow their faith walk with God through education, fun, service events, and retreats!  If you are interested in being part of this group, please contact Diane Bochniak at dbochniak@core.com or 847-949-6793.

 

  • Pizza Party - On Saturday April 2nd we will be having a PEAK Pizza Party!!  All 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend this wonderful fellowship opportunity at 6:00pm.  Come and get to know Michelle (our new Youth Director), play some games, and eat PIZZA!

 

  • PEAK Game day - Worship is extremely valuable to our spiritual growth.  PEAK students who attend worship service on Sunday, April 24th are invited to stay for Game Day directly after the service until 2:30 p.m.  We will have DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and other games available.  Come worship together, grow in your faith, and build relationships.  If you would like to support this event, please bring in any games (appropriate for and geared toward Jr. and Sr. High school age) that you no longer need.  For more information, contact Michelle Olson, Youth Director at 847-223-4111 x 232 or molson@shepherdofthelakes.org.

 

Prairie Patch Quilts

Stitch 'n Tie make quilts to be donated to Lutheran World Relief

Makes quilts to be donated to Lutheran World Relief, supports each other in day-to-day lives. No sewing skill is necessary, though we can always use that expertise. This women’s group meets at church on the 1st Monday of every month at 9:00 am and the 3rd Monday from 12:00pm-2:00pm. For more information, contact Kathy Lyman at 815-385-3954.

 

SUMMIT - Serving Society while Developing Relationships

SUMMIT is Shepherd of the Lakes High School ministry grades 9 – 12. Their mission is to “celebrate God through serving society while inviting others to connect and develop relationships.” The group typically meets every Sunday from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Wrapped in Our Prayers

Calling all those who crochet and knit (and even those that don’t)! As part of the prayer ministry, this group will make prayer shawls for those people on our prayer list. As the shawls are made we pray for the recipient, who will then have the shawl as a tangible reminder of our Lord’s love. The group meets the 4th Monday of each month from 7-8pm in the Prayer Room at SOTL. All are welcome. Keep your eyes open as shawls are now being distributed. If you have a special request for a shawl please contact Su Miller at hobbitgirl@msn.com with your request. Donations of yarn or gift bags and cards are appreciated.
